I first heard this quote from my Grandmother, and it has been the rule of my life. I have found that if you treat people with courtesy and respect, then you are more apt to be treated the same. All my life I have been faced with different circumstances, due to family, friends, coworkers and children. There have been hard times and good times and this simple rule has been my guide. I believe hat if the world were to follow this basic rule we would have peace on earth.

The reason that I picked this quote is that it came for my favorite writer/directors movies George A. Romero. This is his “DEAD” series which include Night of the living dead, Day of the dead, dawn of the dead, and land of the dead. I am big zombie movie buff and that quote just sounds cool.

I really like this quote and try to live by it everyday because I use to hate myself for looking like the way that I do. I wanted to be like all of the other girls who were models. I struggled with self image and I still do. This quote kind of inspires me to enjoy who I am and stop wanting to be like other people. I now believe that everyone is beautiful in their own way, just not everyone sees it. Nobody is perfect. Therefore, I am trying to live by this quote and love myself for who I am because sitting around and wanting to look or be like others is a waste of time and will never happen. So enjoy who you are because you only have one life to live and it's to short to worry about wanting to be someone other than yourself.

This means what it say's! For anyone who has accepted Jesus into their life as their personal savior and Lord will be with the Lord after death. When they are no longer in the body, they are present with the Lord. This gives me hope because I know I don't have to stay in this wicked world, I can go be with my Savior and Lord forever.

My mom passed away 5 years ago and I was the person taking care of her. At the time, I thought that I wouldn't be able to take care of her because it was too hard but I did. I used to say all the time how my mom always made me mad and I didn't want to take the responsibility of caring for her. But right before she died, she said you don't know what you have until it's gone. Well, I think about that everyday and I realize that at that point in time I was the world to her. I really miss her.

This quote actually explains itself. At one point I didn't believe that life was living. To cut a long story short, my belief created that fact and I ended up putting myself in the hospital. After having a near death experience, I realized it wasn't that bad and I started living my life and trying to enjoy it. It has been a long journey but I started to believe that life was worth living and my belief helped create that fact.

I think this quote really tells it like it is and I like following it. For many years, I tried to live my life to satisfy others and to satisfy myself. Everyday, I worked hard to make others proud and happy and to try and achieve what I felt they wanted me to be and to do. Today, I do what makes ME happy and what is right for my family and me. The more you try and please others, the more you disappoint yourself. I found that out the hard way and I am happy to have finally changed it.

I like this quote because when I was younger, my biological mother was really never there for me while growing up. She left me with my dad and grandparents when I was 5 days old. When I was around 4 years old she came around and asked who I was and left. I never saw her again until I was older. As I got older she called, wanted to see me and have a relationship with me. She wanted me to let her come into my life and to do things with her. She got mad at me because I told her, I couldn't do that because she was never really present in my life and I didn't know her. Still to this day I hardly have anything to do with her because she was never there for me, she's a stranger. So for everyone that wants to have a family life, be present for every little thing. I have lived on this quote everyday for a few years now. In my past experience I have learned that no one else has control over your future but yourself. If you are willing to deal with whatever may stand in the way of your dreams and ambitions, you can overcome them and make your dreams a reality. Two years ago I never would have thought I would be back in school and doing something with myself...but look where I am now. It hasn't come easy, and there are days I would just like to give up. But if you have the support of the people you love around you, you can accomplish anything.

This is a quote that I have lived by most of my adult life. The quote speaks volumes to me. I read this quote for the first time when I was expecting my first child. At that time, I thought that it meant that you should not ask someone to do a physical act that you would not do. For example, if you are too good to scrub floors, then don't ask someone else to do it for you. As time past, I have grew on the inside with this quote. Now, I feel that the quote means that you are an example to your children, friends, family and the world. Show them the way that you expect to be treated and they will respond to it. Don't do or say anything that you would not want to be said or done to you. This also ties into helping others. If you don't help your neighbors, then they most likely won't help you. This quote also reminds me that if you don't like yourself, no one else will. If you remember this quote, your day will be a little brighter on the inside and bring light to those around you.

Several days ago, Veronica commented on my "upbeat" attitude in class. I briefly shared with you the first several lines of one of my favorite teaching quotes. The entire quote is shown below.

I strive to live by this quote every day. It is the central focus of my teaching philosophy. During my teaching career, I have had many opportunities to work with, be instructed by, and observe other instructors. It was the teachers with charisma that impressed me the most. Even if I was having a bad day, just being around them lifted my mood. One of my colleagues that I admired the most had a desk plaque engraved with this particular quote from Dr. Haim Ginott. She stated that she would come into school each day and look at that plaque for inspiration.
